The Spooks VA./Project Rainbow/Project Morning Star 1993-Present

Back in the Summer of 1993 our band Dirty Pictures had disolved and I found myself still wanting to carry on musically and as a Poet and Artist as well and I chose for a time The Spooks (VA) for a band name (a CIA reference) that group eventually became The Spiritworld after my former Crayon and Dirty Pictures bandmates and I began to play again in the Fall of 1994. In 2013 The Spooks (VA) reappeared again as a new project for our Studio. My Sister Amy K. and I began to share artwork and add music and poetry to it as well for what would soon become Project Rainbow in 2018 (another CIA reference from the Philadelphia experiment and from a line in The River of Swans poem) and eventually evolved into Project Morning Star (another poetry sequence title) in 2021. The first album by Project Morning Star (Apsara) was first released in 2020 @ https://studioappal.bandcamp.com/album/apsara

The Art of Suggestion

Poetry and painting are "sister arts" & are meant to compliment one another. Poetry is imagistic & remains the art of suggestion- it should open up endless possibilities of meaning & be resistant to literal or linear interpretation. What matters is how a poem touches the individual heart.

Elements of Lost Time & Emotion

Everyone, young and old, carries a treasury of memories around with them, those sequences out of time that have become fully a part of us. The Poet can begin to translate those elements of lost time and emotion into a poetic story line after realizing they have always been living within us in some ghostly form or another.

Wait until the Morning Star

I had written a memory sequence of poetry titled “Wait until the Morning Star", which later became “Vandalia”. The evolution of the name of this group was inspired by the poetry I was simultaneously working on.
